Carol Oaks

HISTORY

Carol Oaks is a neighborhood just south of I-30, eight miles east of the Fort Worth Central Business District and bordered on the north by I-30, on the east by Morrison Rd., on the south by Meadowbrook Blvd. and on the west by Sandy Lane. It is included in the 1871 David Hitson Survey and the 1878 Enock S. Johnson Survey.

An early (1915) landowner in Carol Oaks was A.G. Redding who sold a right of way in 1927 to Magnolia Gas Company (later renamed Mobil Oil) for a gas pipeline with the stipulation that the pipe be buried to a s ufficient depth so as not the interfere with the cultivation of the soil.

In 1968, much of what is now known as Carol Oaks was sold to the J&J Development Corporation who began the first phase of its residential development. In 1972, Folsom Investments Inc. began developing the north portion of Carol Oaks.

One of the major roads running through this area is Brentwood Stair Road, a road running east from Cooke's Lane. This road is a combination of Stair Road, named after A.M. Stair, an early property owner in the area, and Brentwood Drive. In 1962 these roads were connected to form Brentwood Stair Road. In 1972, part of Ederville Road to the west of Brentwood Hills was also renamed Brentwood Stair.

NEIGHBORHOOD DESCRIPTION
